I recently had the pleasure to review some Mercerised Cotton for Minerva Crafts, and looking at the colour selections, fell in love with the reds, so I decided to do something a little different and combine one of my other loves, Embroidery, into a Christmas project.
I have used many Crochet threads over the years, and can honestly say this one was perfect for me. Not too thin but firm and it enabled me to make shapes that held their form beautifully. I was also able to use this thread to place some embroidery into my design as well as crochet. DMC Cebelia, is 100% cotton, mercerised (does anyone else have problems saying that word!) this one was a No. 10 gauge, so plenty of strength and nice stiff finish.
I used my fave yarn spool whilst making this project , made by a local woodturner. A lovely oak piece which enabled me to stack two spools on top of each other. I love supporting local small Artisans, if you get chance to check out his work, he has a new Instagram account @woodturnerme and an Etsy Shop, (and no , I am not getting any commission, just passing on my likes if you’d like to check him out).
I had enough yarn to make two different designs, this one with Christmas Roses as the theme, and another with more of a spring feel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and using this yarn, if you would like to see more about how I made these, go to the blog post Christmas Bouquet featured on the Minerva Crafts website. Thanks for your visit to my page and to my ‘Happy Place’.
I would love to hear your thoughts, in the mean time enjoy your Happy Place!
